The Hawai‘i Association of Independent Schools is accredited by and recognized as a member of the International Council for Advancing Independent School Accreditation (ICAISA), formerly known as the NAIS Commission on Accreditation. ICAISA serves as an international authority on independent school accreditation, representing thousands of schools in over 100 countries.
HAIS has fully met the established criteria for effective independent school accreditation practices, exemplary standards, and models of successful accreditation policies and procedures - Criteria for Effective Independent School Accreditation Practices - and is held accountable over a ten-year cycle to compliance, best practices, policies and procedures in the accreditation process. This serves two purposes: institutional improvement and quality assurance.
HAIS's accreditation status is valid until 2028, at which point the association will undergo a complete self-evaluation with a subsequent visit by a team assembled by ICAISA.
