We will look at the role of assessment in providing meaningful feedback to learners. We will look at a variety of student work, develop criteria for quality learning and practice implementing our assessment plan with each other to strengthen our understanding. We will look at some powerful research and readings that support this work. We will leave with strategies and practice in applying these to your classroom.
During this workshop, participants can expect to:
Participate in a mini activity to look at common language in developing assessment criteria for quality work
Analyze and refine the learning unit and its associated student work to consider the role of assessment throughout the learning cycle.
Practice the strategy of co-construction of criteria as a means to develop common language in assessment
Read, reflect and reach consensus around key factors in formative and summative assessment
Plan out and receive feedback on a plan of action for assessment moving forward
