The Middle School Coordinator is a combined teaching and administrative role, which includes teaching two classes and overall coordination of the middle school program. The coordinator will work in close collaboration with the Assistant Head of School and the broader leadership team, while being primarily responsible for the program in the middle school.
Essential Functions of the Middle School Coordinator include:
- Teach 2 classes (40% teaching load in courses based on candidate background)
- Work in partnership with the leadership team to nurture a campus environment where all community members thrive.
- Advocacy for the specific educational, developmental, and social/emotional needs of students in grades 6-8.
- Facilitate regular middle school faculty meetings, structuring time for meaningful professional learning.
- Participate on school committees including, department chairs, select Board of Directors committees, professional development and division leadership.
- Participate in efforts to recruit, hire, and retain faculty and staff.
- Foster positive, productive relationships with students and families.
- Coordinate middle school events including: campout, unity days, family meetings, dances, 8th grade graduation, etc.
- Participate in planning school events including: new student orientation, 6th and 9th grade preview night, 6th and 9th grade shadow days, student divisional transitions (5th to 6th & 8th to 9th).
- Support the creation of class and student schedules
- Oversee middle school advisory program
- Review and update middle school policies in handbooks

- K-12 teaching or coaching experience is required, independent school and 6-12 grade teaching experience is preferred.
- Bachelor degree required and advanced degree preferred in a relevant field.
