Job Description:

The Living Classroom teacher’s paramount responsibility is to provide a safe, healthy, nurturing and responsive educational setting for children ages 3 - 14. He/She is also responsible for supporting the children’s development by recognizing individual differences and by helping them to live, learn and work cooperatively in a carefully designed, outdoor classroom environment. Within the Living Classroom, efforts to teach Earth and humankind stewardship as outlined within the Scales and Curriculum of our Guidelines of Sustainability are of the utmost importance. As described within the Guidelines, the successful candidate will be keen and exhibit the appropriate knowledge base to uphold the Living Classroom as a working model through which the purpose and performance of the built and ever-expansive environment can be positively integrated with the Montessori curriculum and its educational goals.

Applicant Requirements:

Further, the successful candidate should meet the minimum qualifications:

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree, in science related field preferred

• Previous teaching experience, Montessori preferred

• Have previous outdoor and/or environment educational experience

• Knowledge of native plant species propagation

• Capable of performing and/or leading construction, maintenance, irrigation, and project-based learning initiatives 

Education:
4 Year Degree
