Position 1 - Liturgical Leadership, Music Ministry, Life Team

Maryknoll High School is seeking a High School Religion teacher with an unwavering commitment to student spiritual growth and success. We are looking for teachers who prioritize building authentic connections.

 

The ideal candidate has some or all of the following characteristics:

  • To ensure that the religious curriculum is taught in accordance with the USCCB curriculum framework and that all pedagogy is faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Orient new/current students and faculty to the liturgy of the Catholic Church
  • The ability to organize student leadership teams to support school functions
  • Stay current with educational best practices
  • Follow all school policies and practices
  • Support the philosophy, mission and profile outlined by school administration
  • To ensure that the Religion Department functions as leaders of Maryknoll’s Strategic Plan, goal number one, “Develop characteristics of a healthy Catholic school culture.” ensuring that following goals are achieved in its pastoral work, faith formation programs, and communal worship
  • Knowledge of effective differentiation and customization practices to support teaching students from diverse backgrounds, including learning differences
  • Minimum of 1 year teaching experience in public, charter, parochial, or independent school
  • Likes working with students and colleagues in collaborative settings.

Responsibilities…

  • Develop curriculum and teach religion classes as well as preparing students for all school wide spiritual gatherings, ensuring that students are adequately prepared and informed to observe protocols and meet behavioral expectations.
  • Work with Maryknoll Grade School administration team to plan (school wide) yearly liturgical events by organizing students in all religion classes to take active roles in the planning, preparation, setup, management and cleanup.
  • Ensure that Religion classes are properly observing the Liturgical Seasons of the church as well as special feasts, memorials, and the devotionals that go along with these
  • Oversee the student Liturgical Music Ministry and Life Team
  • Preparation of course materials, working from existing curricular frameworks, texts, and assessments
  • On-campus supervision duties as assigned during the school day
  • Faculty Mentor to students as part of our Advisory Program
  • Willingness to participate in some aspect of the school's extracurricular life

  • Working with Director of Student Services, plan three schoolwide service days and one Divisional Retreat
  • Work with school Principal, Pastor, and other staff leaders to plan, execute, KAIROS retreats
  • On-campus supervision duties as assigned during the school day
  • Faculty Mentor to students as part of our Advisory Program
  • Willingness to participate in some aspect of the school's extracurricular life

  • Under general direction, performs highly responsible confidential tasks for the High School pastor and campus ministry 
  • Creates letters, newsletters, e-mails, and other documents independently for Campus ministry
  • Proofread all outgoing communication and departmental collateral for accuracy
  • Ensure high-quality customer service and maintain positive relationships at all times to all external and internal constituents
  • Manage office details such as answering main phone line, ordering supplies, processing departmental invoices and check requests in a timely manner
  • Maintains positive relationships with school administrators, staff, faculty, parents and students
  • Keeps the principal/pastor apprised of potential problems and concerns; filters information and concerns to appropriate departments
  • Assists in preparing communications to external constituents (i.e. parents)
  • Collaborates with peers to enhance the work environment and support organizational planning
  • Support in communications of High school religious functions through different communications platforms.
