More Information:

What is Design Thinking?

Design Thinking is human-centered innovation.” Design thinking focuses on discovering the problems, asking the right questions, challenging assumptions, generating a range of possibilities, and learning through targeted stages of iterative prototyping. Using ethnographic tools and contextual inquiry, design thinkers learn how to observe, interview, and develop empathetic insights that lead to transformative, rather than incremental innovation

Design Thinking Hawaii Design Thinking Laboratory:

The HAIS-Design Thinking Hawaii Design Thinking Laboratory will be a high-energy, experiential learning experience. Participants will collaborate in organizational teams to solve a challenge that the team brings to the workshop. The workshop is built upon learning by doing and reflection, and organizations are encouraged to gain empathy prior to coming to the session or invite stakeholders to be interviewed at the event. Attendees will benefit from the collective brain-power of the participants, and practice skills from the Intensive Introduction to Design Thinking.  The Laboratory is focused on putting design thinking to practice for your organization. The Hasso Plattner Institute of Design’s five-step process (empathy, define, ideate, prototype, feedback) will be used in the workshop.
